“Exceptional” Warrington social care worker shortlisted for second national award

A Warrington social care worker who was given an Outstanding Contribution award by the charity Making Space in October has been shortlisted for a second national award.

Rachel Munn, who runs Warrington’s Psychological Wellbeing Services for Making Space, is on the shortlist for the Outstanding Partner award at the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards (WAGS).

The Outstanding Partner category “recognises exceptional women who are dedicated to providing quality products/and or services to the sector.”  Rachel will find out if she’s the overall winner of the award at a celebrity-hosted black tie gala reception in London in November.

“I feel very privileged to be shortlisted for this award and to be able to do the role that I do, says Rachel. “The services I manage are there for people during some of the hardest periods of their lives and the difference that these services make to people day in day out is nothing short of extraordinary. I wouldn’t be up for this award without my incredible team behind me who genuinely do put the people they support at the heart of what they do.”

For the second time, Rachel has been recognised for her high professional standards, the compassion she displays in her leadership, and her dedication to delivering outstanding psychological services and partnerships across Warrington.

The services, which are run by adult health and social care charity Making Space, support people who have a wide range of mental health issues. Help available includes guided one-to-one self-help, computerised cognitive behavioural therapy, and community and social support groups and helplines.

Rachel began working with Making Space, which has its headquarters on Allen Street, in 2009 as a cCBT Coordinator. She now manages six services for the charity with a team of 16 staff.

“Rachel lives by the values of Making Space and pours her extensive knowledge into the services she manages, the areas they’re located, partnership working and the excellent service outcomes she achieves,” says Phil Orton, the chief people officer at Making Space.

“She provides supportive, positive leadership with a firm eye on results and ensuring patient care is the best quality it can be. Rachel is a shining example of how dedication and commitment can result in a rewarding career that benefits thousands of people.

“Awards like this are essential to shine a light on the people who make such a positive difference every time they go to work. We’re all wishing her the very best of luck.”

The WAGS recognise accomplishments at all levels of leadership and from across the whole of the social care sector, including services for older people, people with learning disabilities or autism, and children, young people and families.
